If you’re anything like me, when you walk through the Home Décor sections of stores, you’re flooded with ideas, inspiration, and “Ooh, I really like this,” easy home decor? Yes, please! But, then reality sets in and rears its ugly head: “Where the heck would I put this?” “This wouldn’t match anything.” Or (and my personal favorite) “I am NOT spending that amount of money on this!” You walk away defeated, knowing your house/room will not look like Joanna Gains decorated it, with Martha Stewart’s seal of approval.
Yet maybe you are in fact looking to easily spruce up a room in your home, without being left in a design conundrum. Where do you start? What do you choose? Should you do an accent color, or splurge on a bold piece of art? And keep in mind, there IS a difference between minimalism and your room looking like an empty shell. So, what do you do? Well, when in doubt, add plants! Seems simple enough, right?
I say, add plants to any room, and every room! Add flowers, add ferns! Go big, go small! Pot them, hang them—do whatever speaks to you! And don’t think that garden plants are just for the garden! In your kitchen, make a mason jar spice garden: basil, parsley, & hello cilantro! Plus, these added greens leave a pretty good scent, too! Maybe you want to opt for a plant that’s a bit more unique; try a cactus or succulents. Terrariums are the perfect blend of greenery & art and come in a variety of sizes and shapes that are ideal for any room.
Now you may be thinking, “alright I get it, but I don’t have a green thumb!” Fear not! These days, fake plants are easy to come by and even harder to kill! It’s also difficult to tell if they are in fact fake! Gone are the days of your Grandmother’s obvious fake bouquet centerpiece! Now you can get fake plants that look like they have water in them—which means watering the plants is one less thing you’d have to remember to do (an added bonus!)
So, if your room, kitchen, bathroom, or even your office space is looking a little bare, remember to just add plants! Quick, easy, & affordable Home Improvement Tips & Tricks from your friends at DBS Remodel!
