“Carters crew comes through!”

This is the title of a wonderful article written by Curtis Schmidt of the Northern Dutchess News, about a selfless act by many local trades in the Hudson Valley. DBS Remodel of Poughkeepsie New York facilitated this build, for a very special boy that was in need of a ramp at his home. That was only the beginning.

Bernhard Handicap Ramp 5 30 14 (5)It’s not hard to find yourself WANTING to donate your time after meeting this special little boy, whose long time hero is Bruce Springsteen, whom he has met! He was diagnosed with spina bifida in the womb, but that doesn’t stop him today. This ramp has greatly helped Carter Bernhard (and his family!) gain independence in their daily routines. Father, Scott Bernhard, no longer has to lift Carter in and out of their home, located in Hyde Park New York.

The Bernhard Family is very grateful for all of the overwhelming help and support they have received from the community.

“Long story short: With the help of architect Patrick Kozakiewicz (Scott’s brother-in-law)and the Town of Hyde Park Supervisor Aileen Rohr & Chris Lapine of The Chazen Company assisting with permits, and Town of Hyde Park building inspector Don Westermeyer expediting the zoning issues, Altmann and his team from DBS Remodel were able to gather donated materials and move forward.” (Curtis Schmidt, Northern Dutchess News)

A huge THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone that was involved in helping make this wonderful family gain some independence. Also, a huge thank you to Curtis and the Northern Dutchess News for displaying such a great cause! It’s rare to find good news in the news now a days!
