A large part of this is hiring the perfect remodeler for you and for your family. We are about to give you a little insight into a beautiful bathroom remodel in Fishkill! Our goal at DBS is to make sure that you are comfortable, keep you safe while remodeling your bathroom, and to make this experience exciting and essentially, everything you had imagined!  You want your family to be in the driver’s seat at all times!

As always, I am no bathroom remodeling professional! My sources of information are the remodeling pros here at DBS! We make the difference in your home, by providing our client comfort zone. DBS strives to give you the best remodeling experience possible! Disclaimer!?  We do not promise to cover every detail in a remodel. Our goal is more in the direction of giving you a few things to think about when considering a remodel.

Let’s start with the shower and / or bathtub! This decision can dramatically change the look and feel or your bathroom. Some people prefer tubs over showers, and vice versa. We encourage you to look into all types of showers & tubs, as well as mixing and matching fixtures and finishes. Here you see a homeowner that opted for BOTH – a Jacuzzi style tub, as well as a large shower stall, which is very popular.

You can also see there that they continued the style of tiling throughout the entire bathroom, that ties both the shower and tub together. The tiling matches the countertop, which is a nice touch, as well as the bath fixtures matching the faucet & handles. Classic!

There are also styles of glass that you can use for your shower doors.  The style of glassHudson Valley, Poughkeepsie Remodel, Poughkeepsie Remodeling, Kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, fishkill bathroom, fishkill ny, fishkill ny bathroom remodel, fishkill ny bathroom pictured below is obscure privacy glass. This almost eliminates the need for a shower curtain, unless of course you still want one. The shape of the doors themselves adds a bit of flare to the shower stall.

Both of tubs and shower stalls prove to work into almost any design, however we find that the most current trend is beautiful custom shower stalls with fancy grab bars, bench seats and alcoves for soap and shampoo.  The great thing about converting to a shower stall is that it can be completely custom and to your liking.  For instance, you can choose between an acrylic shower base and a custom tiled shower. Homeowners can decide if they want a traditional wall shower, if they’d like to halve out the partition wall or take it out all together and replace with a full glass wall to open up the room. Another design option is a frameless glass shower door! The options are endless so prepare yourself! Below is a bathroom that is very close to being finished. The only thing left to be put up are the frameless glass shower doors. As you can see below, this bathroom has both a tub, as well as a custom shower stall, with a bench seat.

While continuing to think about your shower, another option is to add a bench, as we mentioned earlier. If your answer is “yes, we definitely want a bench!”, the next question is whether to build it into the wall and continue with the tile design, or to attach a flip down

Will you get a shower caddy, install corner shelves, or build in niches into the wall so that they are not obtrusive? As you can see in the picture to the right, this homeowner went with rounded corner shelves that matched the tiling.

As we continue on this road to constructing your new shower, a point raises itself. That point is mobility as none of us are getting any younger! Are you planning on aging in this particular house? No one wants to think about it now, but the reality is that it’s going to happen to all of us.  Why not prepare now?  DBS is a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place) remodeler and endorses and understands Universal Design.  We are always thinking ahead, and this is why we offer the placement of grab bars, as well as low threshold, barrier free shower entries! Practicality is key!
